A big Annual General Meeting for INTECS

INTECS, as it is known for the INformation TEChnology Society of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa celebrated it’s Annual General Meeting 2011/ 2012 on 24th November 2011. The Distinguished Chief Guest was Mr. Madu Ratnayaka, Vice President and General Manager of Virtusa Corporation. The Guest of Honor was Prof. Dileeka Dias, the former Dean of the faculty. The event was sponsored by ICTA Sri Lanka and IFS by being Strategic Partner and the Gold Sponsor.

The event was made colorful with the professionals represented the Sri Lankan IT Industry. ICTA, IFS, Virtusa, Eurocenter and Navantis IT are among the IT companies that took part in the event. The students highly appreciated the opportunity they got to interact with the industry representatives. The industry professionals expressed their experiences and ideas regarding the way how an undergraduate must perform to get a better placement and move up rapidly.
The Guest of Honor, Prof. Dileeka Dias mentioned how active INTECS has been in the past and the how it should be in future. The Distinguished Chief Guest, Mr. Madu Ratnayaka mentioned how well the faculty has been incorporating with the industry since its beginning and did an excellent speech which inspired all the participants. Prof. Asoka Karunananda, the Dean of the faculty mentioned how attractive the IT industry has been and highlighted the way how people has forgotten the importance of research work.
The new office bearers were appointed and the team INTECS will be lead by Mr. Ramindu Deshapriya for the next year. Everyone congratulated the new committee. Among the annual activities of INTECS,

INTECS invites all the IT companies in Sri Lanka to cooperate with them since INTECS is willing to move towards improving the IT literacy of the Sri Lankan students all around the country.
