Vitality of Time Management in Projects

We are people who play with time. Every single second that passes from now onwards as well as every single second that has already passed would have made a significant change in a person’s life. It means every single second we spend on earth is important for everyone individually. Its way far important when it comes to the business world where we negotiate with business partners and customers who do own same set of tasks to be accomplished within a limited time period.
One of the major complaints that are being made by the customers of the IT project development teams is that not being punctual on project delivery. This may affect many of the clients’ aspects and make him unhappy. It may directly affect the client’s business plans and a considerable amount of delay can affect the changes of customer requirements.

Therefore gaining a better control over the project’s time aspects is really important. The project time management process is defined as a combination of six elements. They are,
  1. Activity definition
  2. Activity sequencing
  3. Activity resource estimating
  4. Activity duration estimating
  5. Schedule development
  6. Schedule control
1) Activity Definition
The set of activities that are needed to take for delivering the project elements are identified first and they are defined as a set of activities needed for the accomplishment of the project. The project charter and the Work Breakdown Structure is documented at this stage.
2) Activity Sequencing
Reviewing the activity list, project scope statement, milestone list and and change requests after the approval are made here. Sequencing of the project activities and tasks is done through Mandatory, Discretionary and External dependencies.
3) Activity Resource Estimating
A good idea on the quantities and the types of resources are being taken at this stage. Also the factors like the organization history on carrying out similar kinds of activities are being evaluated here. Finally a resource breakdown structure is created with a explanation of each type of resources required by each step of the project development.
4) Activity Duration Estimating
A duration of the required time spans for each development of the application is measured with the help of the people who are involved in the project.
5) Schedule Development
The basis of the monitoring of project progress with respect to time schedule is being done here. It results in a realistic project schedule with respect to a particular tiimeline.
6) Schedule Control
With the support of several progress reports, charts and other tools, it shows the status of the schedule which is developed at the earlier stage.
A set of scenarios like this will make sure that the project workflows in a particular manner and it would make the managers and the other administrative to work according to a predefined schedule.

  1. Time management is the essence of any project and effectively tracking and managing is the key to success for any business. There are various time management apps available these days in the market and the best thing about those is that these help i n easy time tracking and hassle free time management.

I had used few apps such as Toggl and Harvest earlier though found most of these having certain issues such as downtime and speed. Other apps that I used had been Replicon time management software which is a completely hassle free app with lot of flexibility and ease of accessibility from anywhere.

Best feature of this tool is that it has got nice user interface design and easy compatibility with apps and can be used as an integrated suite.
